Anything by Jane Savoie. I have a few of hers. I can't remember all the titles but one was something about "Dressage for every horse/sport". She has wonderful clear explanations, great illustrations and photos.
I would recommend any of the Alois Podhajsky books......"My horses , my teachers" is one. He was one of the last riding Directors of the Spanish Riding School and the one the Walt Disney Movie was about.
Gerd Heuschmann 'Tug of War' Alois Podhajsky 'Complete Training of Horse and Rider' Philippe Karl 'Twisted Truths of Modern Dressage' All really good reads :) xx
Thankyou very much. After I posted this thread I realized that there is already a similar thread by another member.
The book, and DVDs from Anja Beran are beautiful :-)

Sylvia Lochs books to, but they are a bit "heavy" to read.
Dressage in Harmony by Walter Zettl
Absolutely! The Bible of dressage
I love Dressage in Harmony, by Walter Zettl I re-read it every year or two and keep learning each time!
Mary Wanless, Ride with your mind.
Some that have been previously mentioned, plus "Lessons with Lendon" by Lendon Grey
What about "The Dressage Formula" by Eric Herbermann? This classic was written in the late 1970's/early 1980's. Many years ago, Eric used my little 14.2 Arab gelding "Bardi" (or as Eric used to call him "Barty") as one of his demo horses in the photos in his book, taken in my late mother Vicky Hepworth's riding arena in Uxbridge, Ontario.

Eric's point was to demonstrate that you didn't have to have a fancy, expensive horse in order to do dressage well; that any "backyard-type" horse and serious rider could aspire to do great things in dressage if they followed the teachings, principles and formulas in his well written little book. I believe this book has been updated with new editions since then and have been followed up with other excellent books by Eric.
Hi Deborah,
I used to ride Bardi when Don & Vicky were in Holt & Baldwin - what a wonderfully talented horse!
I'm sorry to hear about Vicky. I lost touch with them a year or 2 after they moved to Herald Road.
I saw Holberg was sold to Ruth Armstrong.
I would love some more news.
