I'm shopping for new tires for my horse trailer. The trailer is a heavy one, 10,000lbs laden. My mechanic suggests Carlisle tires, anyone ever hear of them?

Just wanted to let everyone know that you can now read about my journey and other Junior and Young Rider's experiences leading up to and at this year's North American Junior and Young Rider Championships at http://www.clubequestrian.com/coverage/2010najyrc.aspx. Thanks!

so happy to hear that Courtney King-Dye is recovering after her horrible riding accident! Even though she still has many struggles ahead of her it's nice to hear her optimistic tone. She was always one of my most respected role models and still is. To read her latest update visit http://www.courtneykingdressage.com/.

Unfortunately, as Courtney improves another American rider had a riding accident that left him with a fractured pelvis. At least Guenter Seidel was wearing a helmet at the time and didn't face any worse injuries. http://www.eurodressage.com/equestrian/2010/06/13/guenter-seidel-fr...

Thanks to all who responded. I was hoping for a more elegant solution, but a Wintec it will be!
By the way I'm in the Hudson Valley, known for it's humidity, I had no idea it was a factor.

Hi, Laura:

I too swear by the Wintec girth. The mare my Dad uses for competitions in the UK can't go in anything else, and I have had only good results using it on a variety of shapes and sizes. It's really easy to clean, which helps. I've found it to be much more successful in preventing girth galls than sheepskin, especially in high humidity.

They do look sort of cheap and chintzy, but the horses are really comfortable in them, and they seem to do the trick!

Amen to the Wintec girth. I use them also and have never had a problem. I'm in Texas and believe me it's hot! The horses are in a full sweat very early in the work and I've never had any chaffing or sores...ever.

Hi,
I also use a Wintec girth and have never had issues with sores, rubs, etc. Like Mary said, you will want to wait until it is healed so it is not an ongoing issue. Hope your problem is solved soon!
