This Is Horse Slaughter In Canada

I’m not sure which horse is haunting me the most. There was Jack. Big part draft gelding, 23 years old. Skinny as skinny, with large white saddle sore scars. Someone used him hard and threw him away.

Key West, PAG Declared horse of Tom Dvorak, owned by Claudia Demandt humanely put down last week.

Today,  Equine Canada announced the loss of 2011 Dressage Canada Long Listed horse and declared 2011 Pan American Games mount for Tom Dvorak, Key West, an 11-year-old bay Trakehner gelding. Equine Canada extends its deepest condolences to Key West's owners, riders, friends and fans.

Dressage Canada's New Helmet Rules

Dressage Canada has recently announced new safety rules in regards to helmets. Riders at the fourth level and below are now required to wear an ASTM/SEI approved helmet while mounted on show grounds. See below for the full and complete rule change:

Canadian Dressage Community Loses Dressage Icon

It is with deep regret that Equine Canada (EC) acknowledges the passing of long-time member, coach, official, clinician and mentor, Jacqueline (Jacqui) Oldham, 72, of Langley, BC, after a courageous battle with cancer.



Jacqui was born in Bellevue, AB in 1938 and started riding as a young girl in Edmonton. By the age of 14, Jacqui directed her equestrian interest to dressage leading into a lifelong dedication to the sport.
