Hi I'm responding to the message from Lynne about over 50 over 60.... Gosh how exciting that I fill those categories! Just kidding- but I do. I think it's great how many of us are still riding. I see many more older people coming for lessons at our place. I think we all realize that riding is a good way to stay young and use muscles that might otherwise not be doing much. Besides, I love my time with the horses. I had a nice ride with my daughter this AM. We both rode 16.3 hand race track/hunter jumper rescues. Both 19 years old.
This week end we spent our time at a cross country clinic with my other daughter and our friend. They rode, we walked. They did some awesome jumping. Why would I ever stop doing these things? But you won't see me Belly Dancing....!

Anyway, I'd be for a group for old bodies but young minds

Welcome Barbara Chapel, good news that you are finally able to pursue your equine objectives.

I'm sorry if it seems I am complaining about my husband but the fact is I am truly grateful. He does a lot of building for the horses, has a full time job, and supports my teaching lessons in lieu of going out to work. We have been together for 29 years with many ups and downs and have had horses for 28. We have both suffered greatly over the years but have come around to a working relationship with both of us pulling in the yoke together instead of at odds all the time. Now we are in our late fifties we are learning to live together in peace and contentment no matter what happens around us. Our latest project is a new tack room. We are DIY folks and build the horse stuff together. I'm learning not to be so critical of him and his work, instead I replace that with thankfulness that he is there to help.

The location is at Taylor Hills Equine Centre in Flamborough.
It's a 2 hour one, 4-6...we might do a potluck thing afterwards too :)
I'll email you Barbara with details!

Would the workshop be a one day affair? I'm off that weekend, I think it sounds like fun.Where are you? I'd be game.

Hey everyone, So a bunch of gals were so excited about my proposal for a workshop, that I've decided to start doing them. Belly Dance for the Equestrian workshop at our barn on June 13th if anyone is interested :)
Send me an email if you want more info! This is open to women of all ages, and sizes, and is a great way to help strengthen your core for riding!
If you can't make this one, talk to me about coming out to your location for this same workshop! Cheers, B

I just looked at your picture. Are you REALLY over 70? I guess you're the late bloomer.
Comment by Jenny Hiscox on May 17, 2009 at 7:06pm
LOL! Well I'm over 50, but not past menopause. I guess I'm a late bloomer.

Well heck.... I'm looking for an over 70 group!!!! I think probably most of the issues, though, don't change much after menopause and its related changes.....
