Hey,Eileen,
Thanks,I rode a pacer today with my new English saddle, I thought I did pretty good.I didn't fall off!LOL I love riding and being around horses. They relax me.Even just being there and watching them out in the field does something to my soul.Hard to explain, but I finally feel complete..........

Hey Barb, don't worry about being over 50 and starting into the horse thing. If you feel that you were born to ride, and are taking lessons at this point in your life and plan on buying and riding your own horse, you are going in the right direction. We will allow you into our group. lol we are all here for the fun of it. Welcome to the horse world, it is never too late.

Barbara, I had a good chuckle about your hubby and the video taping, Jenny, sounds like you got your prioities straight, and Fiona and Lorraine have eliminated the battle, he he, eh? Cindy? My spouse does alot around the house all the time, which makes my life easier to go riding more often, so that's a good thing!

I am very lucky, my husband is more into horses than me.. he is the one who hides his purchases, has no money for a stove, but omg there is a horse for sale and vavoom suddenly there is enough money.. he will tack up my horse, groom her, has a full time job and we run a boarding facility with 14 horses, never complains.. but on the other hand, he cannot cook, does not do groceries..

Fiona...bless you and your husband. Give him a big hug and tell him how awesome he is. :-D I have heard of husbands like that around here and observe in awe and wonder how that happens. Guess there are actually guys out there that really enjoy horse stuff :-) I have a retired couple who come to me for lessons, it is there first time riding and they picked it up like they were born to and both love it. They spent most of their years in Prince Rupert raising their family and working and have moved in land to a farm. They plan to have horses soon and all the other animals that come with hobby farming. About 4 years ago I had a gentleman come to me for lessons, never ridden before and didn't want anyone to know including his wife, what he was doing. I told he had to tell her, but he was afraid she would want lessons too and be better at than him :-) And of course when he told her she did want lessons and she was a quick study but the neatest thing is they are doing it together and have gone from 1 horse (daughter's) to 4 horses and are loving every minute of it :-) I love that :-)

Regarding husbands that don't join in, I think I must be very lucky. Mine mucks out, fills haynets, waterbuckets, comes with me to events and although he doesn't ride he is a true 'supporter' of my endeavours. And no, I don't loan him out - I'd never see him again!! ;-) It has taken me three goes to find one like him, mind you! ;-D

LOL that's too funny! The last man I dated insisted that I give up my weekends to watch his 12-year-old son's hockey tournaments, but when I told him he needed to come and watch/photograph my jumper lessons or shows he said he would bring his laptop and work. When I told him that would not be appropriate he just sat there looking bored. Needless to say, he didn't last!
