Jenny- I am very close to Scotsdale Farm. From my friend's barn, we just ride down the road and ride on the Scotsdale property. Not aware if my friend got special permission or not. Of course, we are not showing up with a rig. Will try to remember to ask her if she got permission or not. I think the Credit River Conservation Authority runs the place...but will do some more checking. If I do not respond within a week-remind me.

Hey, may I come too? I'm in Burlington. Well, I'm in Mexico, but my horse is in Burlington so I will be too, just as soon as the school year ends. My friend and I are just trying to figure out how to get permission to ride at Scottsdale Farm, which is adjoining (or part of?) the Bruce Trail north from me along Trafalgar Road. Maybe around Erin/Orangeville? Or maybe not quite that far north, I'm not sure. Anyway, we were planning on trailering up there this summer if we can get permission.

Erin, what a coincidenkel...lol I have a riding buddy from Orangeville. We often go somewhere during the summer for a riding camping thing. We have ridden on many a trail for many years, what a small world. We should make a commitment this summer to get together somewhere and ride the trails.

Wow Eileen, what an adventure! I am not sure I would have the nerve to do a trip like that. Would love to hear more. I live in Erin, about 30 minutes from Guelph, so if you are in the area with your friend let me know....

Welcome Horsey Heather, I love the name, one would think that your name is Heather and that you love horses. lol I also am a dyed in the wool trail rider, never showed, never bred, never raced, just rode. alllll over. Where do you usually ride? I have a friend that I ride wirh sometimes from Guelph, in 2007, we each took our own rigs and horses and crossed over into Michigan, and headed west...with no real schedule or plan, just head west. Where ever we stopped to camp we rode there till we were ready to move on. Got to the mountains and the forest fires stopped us in our tracks...so he headed north and rode in Alberts, then covered Cypress Hills in Sask, what a surprise that was with all of the hills and trees there...stayed for close to a week when we thought a days rest would do it. lol I love this trail riding thing.

Just saw this group and thought I would join...as I definitely fit the age group. I have been lucky and have kept up my riding over the years. Now just trail ride on my own or with friends. Look forward to meeting others.

I too, am counting the days[years] until retirement. I have so little time to properly ride, that I end up doing chores, or going for a quick hack, when I REALLY should be on those canter transitions !!

I hear what you are saying regarding the full time job getting int he way of your horses. I was lucky to be able to retire at a very early age. From the first day of my retirement, I hit the ground running, and jumped into the saddle and am still moving after 16 years. North America has so much to offer to the trail riders, and it never looked better than from between a horses ears. I am looking forward to another 16 years of trail riding across the continent.

Thanks Everyone! We do love to show. I get to do a few a year but that full time job gets in the way at times.
I have been hearing about Farrah. She is amazing, it can't be easy to be putting her story out there as she goes through it. They were talking with Ryan O'Neil on the Today Show this week.
