Catherin, I'd love to go to Australia! Do all the men look like Hugh Jackman?? I may be over 40, but I can still see! ;)

Wow, you guys are really an inspiration! Jan with your wrist and thankfulness amongst others. Dorothy, I am so in agreement with you that now the gratification comes from knowing that the horse is happy.

Hi, everyone:

I'm celebrating today because I got the pins out of my right wrist and the cast off (still wearing a brace), and I can start to use my hand. I've been riding in the cast/pins for the past three weeks, which was a lot better than not riding, but I'm missing riding this weekend with my coach (who's here from Holland) and I'm missing the first show of the season next weekend. However, given the nature of the accident I am happy to have what I have.

Most of us are recognizing how fortunate we are to be where we are now, and to have horses at all. I think those are good reasons to celebrate, and this weekend I'm going to celebrate your reasons along with my own. I will be spending the weekend in the company of a client who's re-discovering her passion for dressage, and with my best friend, who's a senior USEF/EC dressage judge, and a GP trainer, and who's currently fighting the good fight against inflammatory breast cancer. Her GP horse will be in the clinic, under another rider, who's yet another 50+ rider (and who won the GP at the Rancho Murieta CDI 2 in California weeks ago). We are going to enjoy our ages, our health, our horses ,each other etc..!

Keep the faith, and keep riding.

Dorothy you're great! What a way to get back into horses. I admire your determination. I feel I need to start slowly and work my way into actually riding! I'm not nervous, just badly out of shape. But oh, to jump again...

Jenny -- sounds like you and Amber are MFEO ... that's how I feel about my relationship with my boy, Bear.

Hey Chris, I also got my mare very cheaply because she was severely malnourished. At two and a half she was pony sized and so thin that even her head was mishaped. My vet said she thought Amber might never be strong enough to carry me. She also was biting and kicking, and had a lovely habit of charging at people with teeth bared and striking. However, she took one look at me and knew which side her bread was buttered on! She has never done anything aggressive with me, is so gentle I sit down on the ground while hand grazing her, and ride her without tack. Also, she is an incredibly athletic 16 hands.

I see that most of you are from Canada, nice! I stable my horse at a barn in town. I still ride and see him every day. Jumping I love it, I feel free but have stopped due to my husband. The man use to ride when young but is now afraid of horses and won't watch me ride. Ah Well! Odd we have no men in this group yet! Just goes to show that there is something between women and horses.
