When I go out to the barn later today, I'll check it and let you know. I know it's made in Orangeville and it was less money than the longer vests.

I used to have a vest that extended down to my tailbone which seems like good coverage, but in fact it always bumped into the back of my saddle. It was so annoying that I stopped wearing it. Now I have a lighter regulation vest (eventing) that stops about 4 inches short of my tailbone and curves up in front to just under my ribs. It's so light that I wear it a lot now. You can wear it under a sweatshirt or jacket and you don't feel hot or bulky. And bonus - it keeps your boobs from bouncing way better than any sports bra I ever bought. Worth it for that alone.

My instructor will not let anyone ride with out a helmet, even if you are not taking a lesson and riding on your own, It is her barn, her property and her rules helmet is a must I am doing jumping now and I am thinking on getting a vest. I am getting older.

Riding nearly every day has made the difference for me and me fabulous Teddy, a 9 year old Freisian. We're learning dressage together and at 59 my muscles need the work probably more than his! He also needs the consistency to develop the strength for the collection and lateral work. And a helmet is always part of my attire. Snow may be soft but trees or frozen ground or the stray hoof sure aren't!

I always wear a helmet and if riding a nervous horse I wear a vest. The only time I allow myself to ride without a helmet is in the winter ,when I often ride bareback on the trails. Its warmer on the horse than in a saddle and I figure if I fall into the snow, at least its soft :>)

Man, riding every day - good for you! I need to discipline myself to do that. That's how your riding gets better and it's sure good conditioning for the horse. The problem is getting your butt out the door and down to the barn. That will be my New Year's resolution.

Hello everyone. I'm on the wrong side of 55 and I am finally living the dream of riding nearly every day. I have a wonderful 5 year old quarter horse gelding I am learning how to train. Decided after a few months I would switch completely to western riding (one handed) and boy is he much happier with me!! Looking forward to the discussions. Helmets seem to be a big topic. I don't care if people think I'm a sissy - I always wear one - saddle, helmut, bridle, gloves is my routine.

Next Saturday there will be a birthday party for Ken Fleming a member of the Kootenay chapter of the Backcountry Horse men of BC. Ken has to be the oldest active member in BC. he will be celebrating his 90th. He rides most days around the area and has particlpated in all the rides put on by local riders.
When I get a write up about Ken I will post it
