Forgot to mention that I leave the enchanted forest for an arena for the winter tomorrow. Seems early but a lot of barns have closed down here lately and did not want to not be riding like I did last winter.

Have been away from Barnmice for a while but see that the helmet topic is still going and that most of us do wear them. I got to the horse this morning and there was no one to ride with so out I went into the woods alone on my most trusted friend in the world. Helmet of course and now I have learned that if I am riding any distance I leave the string halter under the rope bridle and attach a lead shank to the holy shit strap on the front of the saddle. Pretty late at almost 65 to come to this conclusion as it is a normal trail riding practice but better than without when the rope halter came undone and fell off the other day. Hey Popcorn, I am not too far from you! Just down Hwy 12 near Port Perry. Gail.

Oops spelled helmet wrong ... good thing you don't need spelling to ride!

Great riding day everyone! Weather is awesome here in Ontario.
Yes riders are crazy if they don't wear a helmut ... know a gal who broke her neck but has thankfully had a full recovery.
I started riding at 53 and at 60 am really just finding a proper riding seat ....or so I hope.... showing low level dressage. This has been my life long dream so as far as I am concerned you are never too old to ride ....... told my kids to remember if anything happens Mom died happy and OH "don't expect too much inheritance the horses are eating it all up". I have a 13 yr old gelding and just started (with my trainer's help) my 4 yr old (Popcorn in picture).... he is easier than my old boy who has scary issues to deal with from his past.
I would love to hear from everyone but especially those in the Barrie Orillia area of Ontario. Have fun, Popcorn.

I agree with Linda too! Can't afford that wastage...lol. Might affect my perfectly horrible memory.

I totally agree!

I never ride w/o a helmet - little sense left, can't afford to waste what I have - lol.

Wow Linda, that is my idea of dying too. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Actually my other favorite saying is: nothing like an "adult" proof horse, they're worth their weight in gold!

I hope you ladies are wearing helmets when you are flying through the air with the greatest of buises? lol
