Where is the bannana belt? Never heard it before.

Today is not as cold as it was on the weekend but we still don't have any snow. I hate living in the bannana belt of Canada. Can't wait to retire and head north. I'm very lucky rhat I have use of a friends arena or else this winter would be a right off but I would like to get out for a hack before too much longer . The horses need it as much as I do.

Yes, this weather is a bit of the shock to the system, although I guess we should expect it as it *is* January... :/ I'm annoyed - we'll finally have enough soft snow to make the footing decent for some outdoor riding, but it will be too cold this week by the sounds of things, and my mare gave herself a splint yesterday running around like a nimrod in her paddock *before* all the snow arrived and when the ground was still hard as a rock. Grrrrrrr. So I won't be riding for a bit longer I suppose.......

too brutal today - was supposed to show a horse today but everyone decided it was too cold - it was -15 in the arena and the wind was blowing like crazy. Looks like we are getting a full week of it but the horses have to go out tomorrow -my stallion is going stir crazy - I will have to put him on individual turnout tomorrow - usually goes with the gelding but they were fighting in the arena today so I think they need to burn off some energy before I put them together again. It is quite a sight when you see two 17.2hh horses rearing at each other.

Boy was it cold this weekend. I rode yesterday. I was fine while riding. But it was the grooming and untacking that got me. I thought my nose, fingers and toes were going to fall off.

I just couldn't muster enough stamina to ride today.

Disapointing weekend, the wind chills are too cold for trail riding. I live in Northern Ontario (North Bay). The weather man was calling for mild temps, but we sure didn't get them. Did some bareback riding in the indoor arena - nothing like a heated seat. Last year there was so much snow the trails were not passable. I sunk my 16.1 horse to her belly in a snow drift in mid Dec. This year we have been able to keep them groomed so far.
