I thought someone did start a group for people over 50. I know it was talked about not too long ago but maybe they never actually did it. Several people encouraged it....Including me!

Hello all! Just joined BarnMice but it looks like such a super group of riders and horse lovers to talk to. Over 40 riders is good ... maybe we should go even further and make it over 50. At the big dressage show here in Victoria last year we had the first ever "Century Ride" in dressage. The rules say the ages of horse and rider together have to add up to 100. Rider Dawn Ruthven, a long-time dressage rider and coach, is now 82 and her horse was 18! Such an inspiration to all us riders who think of ourselves as not so young any more!

Ruth that clinic sounded just wonderful. Years ago when I was doing reining freesyles I had purchased a video called Dancing With YOur Horse. I still have it and use it when I'm working out choreography for horses and riders. It was developed by dressage riders, maybe it was the ones you took the clinic from...anyway it really helped getting rythm and timing just right.

Hi Everyone... I just finished a great clinic for our local GMO... Central Vermont Dressage Association... It was a great day (minus the rain shower at lunch)...
Riding With Soul was the THEME of our clinic... the goals of each rider were individual, but the topic and focus of the clinic was to LEARN TO IMPROVE YOUR RIDING AND THE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR HORSE THROUGH MUSIC!! And boy did they... bravo gals... you all amazed me and made huge improvements in such a short day!!!

From Jeannie, who needed to put a little pep in her 2nd level mare, to Susan who needed to bring that 9 trot with a little Latin flair.... you all were so great and what a high energy day!!! Congratulations!!!

Barbara, I have to agree that there are some very accomplished riders on Barnmice. I am seriously impressed!
I finally got to ride again yesterday following last Sunday's incident with my mare, the trailer and my shoulder. (I cheated a little on Friday by getting on my 22 yo retired gelding bareback and walked around the farm just to test the waters!) I had a glass of cabernet and some Aleve after I was done and felt great! We popped over a few fences and she was great!
I am so excited about about the show at the Kentucky Horse Park this week! I love the surroundings. We are able to hack about the park in the mornings and pretend you are riding at Rolex!!! I have some great pictures in the sunken road! You get a true appreciation of the finesse it takes to ride at that level.

Hey, Barbara:

It's good to hear you're back on track. I, on the other hand, am grounded again with SI joint problems...meloxicam is helping a lot, as is rest. I'm off to Calgary today to teach a 3 day clinic, then home for 3 days, to the BC coast to teach a 4 day clinic, home for 2 days, and then to England for 10 days with the Canadian Para team. I won't get much saddle time during all of that, which is probably a good thing. I'm looking forward to being healthy when I get back and riding lots! At least right now I have a super working student who's keeping all the horses going,

I'll be out of touch for some time, so keep your chins up, all of you, and your heels down, and ride, ride, ride!

I now have an amazing coach in dressage. Going for a solid foundation of riding. My arm was dislocated and a torn bicep, but no fear, (Yeah, right) I am still trying to ride. I really like your idea of marshal arts, Dorothy. That sounds so interesting. Is it lovely that we woman at 40 or 50 can persue our dreams,, not so long ago we wouldn't be able to.(Sic) But I love hearing about all you woman. Power to us! We maybe getting older, but we are having fun doing it!I gave up my lease on Cinny because she was western and my coach says there is a horse that a friend of hers has and if it's a good match, I can have him for FREE! Yippeee.....
