well a successful a & p with the little licker! when i do inhand is when he turns into a biter - usually. but not today. the only problem with today was that it starter to shower hard, and he didn't want to play anymore (and he was the only 3 yr old to play up of course). so he blew his 'suitability for dressage' class. but he won the suitability for show hack' class. and got a 3rd in his age class and the big, best registered sport horse any age. and the classes were quite big too. so he's a good little fellow.
HI, ladies!
I've had "lickers" before, and currently have one. Her mother would stand for the farrier and the vet and lick her handlers arms from wrist to shoulder for as long as whatever procedure we were doing took. This youngster is the same, and my Dutch gelding was similar. There was never any interest in biting, just a great deal of licking. As it turns out, I'm allergic to equine saliva, so I end up with hives all up and down my arms from these horses. They are all on free choice salt blocks, a super vitamin/mineral mix, etc., and their CBC's are quite normal. They're just affectionate and relaxed horses!
